Dr Eliza completed training through the organisation Possums and Co and she is fully accredited to provide Neuroprotective Developmental Care following this approach. Dr Eliza uses the Possums and Co approach in her sleep consultations and the Possums and Co “Gestalt Breastfeeding” principles with Mums and babies.

Dr Eliza believes in the importance of focussing on overall health and wellbeing, and offers care from a weight-neutral framework consistent with the Health at Every Size (HAES) principles.

You’re not alone. I’ve had my share of struggles with breastfeeding and sleep.

As a Mum, I have empathy and understanding about how hard it is when breastfeeding is difficult or when your baby is not sleeping.

I came across Possums and co. after my first baby was born. She was a “catnapper” and then was later waking very frequently overnight and we found ourselves feeling broken. I went down the rabbit hole of late night googling, and obsessively tried various schedules and techniques. I was overwhelmed by the varied and conflicting advice and couldn’t understand what we were doing “wrong”.

The Possums approach to sleep was so different but resonated with me strongly both as a mother and as a health professional who values evidence-based research.

After I had my second baby, I had unexpected difficulties breastfeeding, and found it incredibly hard to deal with. Again, I found the evidence-based approaches of Possums and co. and “Gestalt breastfeeding” resonated with me both personally and professionally. The silver lining of my personal difficulty was a new level of empathy and understanding for other women who also have difficulties, and a passion to learn more so that I could help others

Families come to me not feeling right about the idea of “sleep training” and are relieved and comforted to know that there is an alternative evidence-based solution.
